MUMBAI: Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most successful and long-running shows on television. It’s among the top 5 shows when it comes to TRP ratings.

The show is produced by  Asit Kumarr Modi and Neela Asit Modi under the banner of Neela Tele Films.

The audiences loved to watch the fun banter between Dilip Joshi and Disha Vakani. Since Disha is on a break from quite some time, viewers miss her on the show.

Jethalal (Dilip) is a loved character and his comic timing is commendable. He brings life to the show.

But did you know that before signing Dilip Joshi for the role, it was offered to many actors who rejected it?

1 Yogesh Tripathi

Yogesh is best known for his role in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. He too was offered the role of Jetha but refused it as he was busy shooting for Bhabiji.

2. Kiku Sharda

Kiku, best known for his role in The Kapil Sharma, show too was offered the role of Jetha, but he refused it as he didn’t want to do a full-fledged serial and was happy doing a stand–up comedian role.

3. Ahsaan Qureshi

Ahsaan is a stand-up comedian. He too was offered the role, but the reason he declined it is still unknown.

4. Ali Asgar

Ali is a very successful actor on television and is best known for his performance in serials like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kutumb, Comedy Circus, Comedy Nights with Kapil, etc. He too was offered the role of Jetha, but he declined it owing to prior professional commitments.

5. Rajpal Yadav

Rajpal is one of the best comedians we have in Bollywood, best known for his work in Jungle, Waqt, Pyar Tune Kya Kiya, etc. The actor was offered the role of Jetha but he refused is as he didn’t want to do television and wanted to concentrate on his Bollywood career.

Well, in the end, the role was bagged by Dilip Joshi, and fans feel he is the perfect choice for the role and no one could do justice to Jethalal the way he did.
