5 year old Samir Khan is currently shooting the last leg of Akashdeep Saigal's debut film Lotus Dreams. The film, that's being shot in Mumbai, still has a week more of shooting left. Samir stars in the pivotal role of a chaiwala in the film that deals with the theme of child labour in the country. Samir who has been the Max cricket mascot for over two years now, has re-appeared on hoardings promoting the upcoming Super Series. Akash, who says Samir has done a 'fabulous job' in the film, is enthusiastic as he talks about his new venture. "It's about a boy whose dreams are almost within his grasp when they are taken away from him, and how he lives to realize a much larger dream." The Max Master who always wanted to be a hero at last finds his way into the glamour world. Samir's sister Shamim reveals, "It is all God's grace that Sameer gets these roles, we don't go out asking for them." She also discloses, "Sammy missed out his history exam while he was doing the add with Shewag recently, I hope this doesn't happen in future". The film, not a documentary, has three songs incorporated in it, and Akash believes it will turn out something like Nagesh Kukunoor's Iqbal. He hopes to release the film, produced under his own banner, Hall of Records, in the international arena before he commenerically releases the film in the India. The film has had its share of setbacks. "We had to stop shooting two days ago when it poured incessantly," he moans, "and we had a horde of over 200 junior artistes just waiting for the shoot to begin." Akash, who's been dividing his time between direction and his acting stint in Ketan Mehta's Time Bomb, says he's nearly fallen ill with the stress! "I have had to train the kids who are working in the film, give them dance classes, so even though I am not in the frame, I am acting out every scene," he laughs. "Acting on TV is something I will never let go, and I am waiting for the right project to take up next," he grins. As for his next directorial venture, Akash is ready with his ideas. "It will be a musical…a proper musical," he asserts. Way to go, Akash!
