MUMBAI: Sachin Tyagi has been a part of the industry for a long time and is currently playing Manish Goenka in Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. He has been a part of shows Ramayan- sabke Jeevan Ka Aadhar and Tere Sheher Mein.

TellyChakkar recently got in touch with the actor and got to know some very interesting insights about the show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and his character. 

You are like the calming figure in the house who always guides everyone. How do you feel about playing such a character and how similar are you?

“I have been playing this character for 6 years now and there is no shade left that I have not explored. I have done outright negative, I have had a change of heart for my son, and sometimes I was on Naira’s side. In 6 years, if I didn’t explore different shades, the audience will get bored. From being a hero, and villain, to a comedian, I have done everything. I do identify with Manish sometimes, but not always. When Manish talks sense, I connect to him and when he talks about something illogically, I do not resonate.”

What other roles would you wish to explore further?

“I don’t feel any shade is left for me to explore. I am very grateful to television that I am still playing such a pivotal character. Or else everyone gets relegated to the back and in Indian television shows; women are the ones who take control of the plot. I feel very lucky that I still have such an important role to play or else men don’t get to play roles of much importance while women take charge. Women are like the backbone, men just stand there in support. I feel so lucky that my character Manish is still so strong and is the decision maker.”

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has done wonders with the TRPs and managed to maintain a good position for a long time. Do you feel that whatever you do post this, might not work out the way this did?

“I feel every actor who has been associated with this show, has gained immense popularity and got more projects after this because they were a part of this show. Rajan Ji has made such amazing shows but this show has been set in stone. Our TRPs are really good at this point. It does feel that after this show, this will remain the high point but I wish every actor after this show also gains a lot of success. But as of now, whoever has been a part of this show, I feel this has been their highest point.”
