MUMBAI : The Hindi Film industry that has attracted many from all over. It is quite common for model and beauty pageant winners to transition into films and acting. Today we will speak of one such actress who began her career as a model and made her dream debut with none other than Shah Rukh Khan.

We are talking about Gayatri Joshi. The actress was recently on a holiday with her businessman husband Vikas Oberoi in Italy where they were involved in a horrific multiple car crash. There is an investigation going on into the crash that unfortunately led to the death of an elderly couple. 

Gayatri was born in Nagpur in 1977, and studied in Mumbai. As a model she did ads for brands like Godrej, LG, Ponds, Bombay Dyeing, Sunsilk, and Philips. She also did an ad with Shah Rukh Khan in one of the ads. In 1999, Gayatri entered the Miss India beauty pageant and reached the top 5 but failed to win. In 2000 she won the Miss India International and even represented India  at Miss International 2000 in Japan.

In 2004, Gayatri landed her debut Bollywood Film, which is Ashutosh Gowariker’s Swades. While the film was not a big success, critics praised it. That was Gayatri’s first and last film as she gave up her career in entertainment and got married to Vikas Oberoi, who is one of the promoters of Oberoi Construction, making him one of India’s richest men. As per certain reports, Oberoi’s Net worth is Rs 28000 Crores.

Gayatri and Vikas have two sons and the family lives in Mumbai.
