MUMBAI: Ever since the release of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and its subsequent march to the 100-crore club, Kartik Aaryan is on a roll. The actor, who has had successes in Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, has become hot property at the box office.

This year, he has had two releases, Luka Chuppi and Pati Patni Aur Woh. Both the films turned out to be big hits. His slate for next year is pretty impressive as well with films like Love Aaj Kal 2 (tentative title), Dostana 2, and Bhool Bhulaiya 2. 

And now, according to a recent report, Kartik is all set to star in the biopic of late Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila. The movie is said to be produced by Imtiaz Ali and directed by his brother Sajid Ali, who helmed Laila Majnu last year.

If this is indeed true then it will be Imtiaz Ali's second collaboration with Kartik Aaryan, though this time as a producer. For those unaware, Imtiaz is the director of Love Aaj Kal 2.

Amar Singh Chamkila was a popular singer in the 80s and has churned out quite a few chartbusters like Takue Te Takua and Pehle Lalkare Naal. Unfortunately, on March 8, 1988, he and his wife Amarjot, along with two of his band members, were brutally murdered by a group of armed youth on motorcycles.
