MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and producer Kiran Rao announced their separation on Saturday (July 3). The couple, who has been married for 15 long years, share a son Azad Rao Khan together. The couple, who issued a joint statement on Saturday making the announcement, revealed that they will continue to be co-parents for their son Azad.

But this is not the first celebrity couple divorce news that made headlines and took the fans and the film industry by shock. There are many such news which made the fans stunned. In the past, there have been several B-town couple separations that have been gained massive public attention.

The couple plan to raise their son Azad together as well as continue to collaborate on films, their co-owned nonprofit Paani Foundation and other projects, they said in a joint statement. In fact, the couple even made a video appearance together stating that they remain friends and will be family to each other like before, the only difference being they would not live together. 

Aamir and Kiran's joint statement read, "In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love. Now we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives - no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other." "We began a planned separation some time ago, and now feel comfortable to formalise this arrangement, of living separately yet sharing our lives the way an extended family does. We remain devoted parents to our son Azad, who we will nurture and raise together. We will also continue to work as collaborators on films, Paani Foundation, and other projects that we feel passionate about," it further read. "A big thank you to our families and friends for their constant support and understanding about this evolution in our relationship, and without whom we would not have been so secure in taking this leap. We request our well-wishers for good wishes and blessings, and hope that - like us - you will see this divorce not as an end, but as the start of a new journey."

It's a tough decision, but I thought if the choice of coming together was mine, so not being in it — as I feel it's done with its course or it’' time to let go — should also be mine."
