MUMBAI: Duranga starring Gulshan Devaiah and Drashti Dhami was released in August 2022. The show received a great response and Gulshan’s performance in it was appreciated a lot. The series ended on a cliff hanger and now, everyone has been eagerly waiting for season 2 of Duranga.

Duranga was directed by Pradeep Sarkar and Aijaz Khan. It was a remake of the South Korean show Flower of Evil. Duranga was the first series which was an official remake of a South Korean show.

Duranga had received positive reviews from the critics and even audiences loved it, which is why the expectations are high this time.

Talking about the male lead of the series, Gulshan Devaiah is one of the most talented actors we have in the industry. He is known for his amazing performances in movies like Shaitan, Hunterrr, Hate Story, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, Badhaai Do and others. The actor has also been making a mark on OTT with movies and web series like Ghost Stories, Blurr, Duranga, and others.

Now, Tellychakkar got in touch with Gulshan Devaiah where he talked about what’s new in this season,

When asked about what people can expect this season, Gulshan said, “there’s emotional journey of the characters, a love story, there's the past coming back and Amit Sadh has returned. Everything that you saw in season 1 will be seen in this season but it will be a higher dose of everything. Everything has to be sorted, like there’s individual journeys, there’s a journey of our relationship, and there’s also a journey from the past.”

When asked about chances of improvisation, Gulshan said, “We used to improvise a little anyway in the first season as Rohan Sippy had given us that freedom but we would not drift away from the script.”

As we know that there are Korean adaptations being made not just in OTT but also in TV shows. When Gulshan was asked if this limits the artists from exploring or not, Gulshan said, “Sometimes people follow trends religiously. The creators who are making these adaptations are also the ones who want to make something original. I don’t watch TV shows so I can’t really say anything about that. Following trends is okay but over doing it is not good. I don’t know about television but in the case of OTT, I don’t think there’s a lot of adaptations in comparison to original content.”

We asked Gulshan if screen-time mattered to him or the depth of the character if offered to him, to which Gulshan said, “It depends. If the screen time is a lot but there’s not much in the character, I won’t do it. If I think that it’s not good for my career or not good enough as an artist, it doesn’t matter how much screen time I’m getting, I won’t do it. There are opposite scenarios too and I have done such characters. Recently a series was released (Guns n Gulaab) in which I don’t have so much screen time but people liked the character (Aatmaram). Even in Badhai Do the role was of 6 and a half minutes but there is an instinct that tells us that this is good and we should do it, these are good people and a good project. If there is such a clarity then it won’t matter and it’s also okay if it matters to some people. There are people who make their image with a lot of hard work, which is tough in this industry, and if someone doesn’t want to do such small roles in order to protect their image then it’s right.”
